Dr. Mellick grew up in Hays, Kansas.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Kansas State University, graduating in 1995.  After college, Dr. Mellick spent a year in pharmacology research at the University of Kansas Medical Center.  She then began medical school after she realized that people were more interesting than rats.  Dr. Mellick graduated from KU Medical School in May of 2000 and completed both her residency and a chief resident year at KU Pediatrics.  Dr. Mellick joined Pediatric Partners in August of 2004.

 

Dr. Mellick is married to Mitch, a Kansas State Master Trooper.  The Mellicks have 4 children – all girls – Emily, Isabel, Audrey, and Olivia.  No matter what her father says, Dr. Mellick insists she will not be adding to her clan with a “U” named child.  She is also a “mommy” to her dog – also a girl.  Poor Trooper Mellick – loved by five women!!!

 

Dr. Mellick enjoys reading, coaching her oldest daughter’s volleyball team, playing dolls, and making crafts with her girls.  In her spare time (between laundry and grocery shopping), she enjoys cooking and baking.  Her special interests are in education and health promotion and she enjoys educating medical students, patients and parents.  Dr. Mellick firmly believes “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

 

Dr. Mellick is currently accepting newborns to her practice.  She is not accepting older children as new patients at this time, but recommends any of the physicians at Pediatric Partners for transferring families.
